CHURCH PLACE CONDOMINIUMS

1520 16th Street NW, Washington, DC

Drawing on the firm’s substantial experience in rehabilitating deteriorated apartment buildings for low- and moderate-income residents, many of them in Wards 7 and 8, ECA’s renovation of this Dupont Circle building helped spur Washington’s urban renaissance. The design transformed an extremely plain mid-20th-century apartment house into a lively composition, with colorful motifs inspired by the Bauhaus and De Stijl movements. We worked with the client to incorporate works by local emerging artists throughout the building.
