A 316-Unit Development Proposed at Shaw Metro Station

The Shaw pipeline is starting the year off hot.
MidCity Development has shared plans with the community to replace the four vacant apartment buildings on east side of the 1700 block of 8th Street NW (map) with a nine-story, 316-unit project. Fifteen percent of the units will be affordable to households earning up to 60% of area median income, and 20% of the units will be two- and three-bedrooms.
The building will be set back at the sixth floor along 8th Street. The development will include a rooftop pool and 93 parking spaces on a below-grade level. Eric Colbert & Associates is the architect.
MidCity plans to file a planned unit development application in late February in hopes of being able to deliver in 2026; informational updates will be provided here.
