1510 H STREET NW

Washington, DC

Although modestly scaled, this office building is rather prominent due to its location just off Lafayette Square. Due to the proximity of the site to the White House, the design required the approval of the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts. ECA replaced the outdated 1960s-era façade with a sleek glass curtain wall, which was carefully composed to relate to both of the two significant—yet radically different—buildings on either side. ECA designed the lobby interiors and reception desk, and added a car elevator to convert the three underground levels to parking.
